Type 1 :
Addition and Subtraction Operations of Integers
On this
type involves addition and subtraction operations. Addition and subtraction
operations are of the same level. So, this type should be worked on alternately
from left to right.
Example
:
45 + 24
- 16 = ...
45 + 24 -
16 = 69 - 16 (addition is worked on first)
= 53 (final result)
Type 2 :
Multiplication and Division Operations of Integers
On this
type involves multiplication and division operations. Multiplication and
division operations are of the same level. So, this type should be worked on
alternately from left to right.
Example
:
50 : 5 x
2 = ...
50 : 5 x
2 = 10 x 2 (division is worked on first)
= 20 (final result)
Type 3 :
Multiplication, Division, Addition, and
Subtraction Operations of Integers
On this
type involves multiplication, division, addition and subtraction operations.
Multiplication and division operations are higher level than addition and
subtraction operations. So, This type should be worked on multiplication or
division first, then continue to addition or subtraction.
Example
:
12 + 4 x
5 - 48 : 6 =
12 + 4 x
5 - 48 : 6 = 12 + 20 - 48 : 6
(work
fist on multiplication)
= 12 + 20 - 8 (continue to division)
= 32 - 8 (then addition)
= 24 (final result)
Type 4 :
Operation in Brackets
On this
type should be worked the operations in the brackets first, then solve
alternately from left to right.
Example
:
(15 - 7
) + 3 x 2 - 4 : 2 = ...
(15 - 7)
+ 3 x 2 - 4 : 2 = 8 + 3 x 2 - 4 : 2 (work on first the operation in the
bracket)
= 8 + 6 - 4 : 2 (multiplication
is done first)
= 8 + 6 - 2 (continued to
division)
= 14 - 2 (then addition)
= 12 (final result)
